Wednesday will mark the start of the college basketball season, however due to Covid-19, hoops in the 2020-21 season will be different.

"I'm excited more than anything. I'm ready to get going. This summer was so frustrating not being able to be with the team and do those sorts of things. I'm more excited to get this thing going," said UE Senior Forward Evan Kuhlman.

"We adjusted really well actually due to Covid. I don't think it really affected our preparation. We have been cautious and getting ready for the game.I don't think it really affected anything. The most thing I would say is it just tweaks our chemistry, like, we're not able to hang around new guys by being socially distant and stuff. So that's the only thing Covid has really affected," said UE Junior Guard Shamar Givance.

The UE men's basketball team returns 7 players from last year's unit, and the returning players will play a key role for the new members of the team.

The new guys are very open to guidance. So, we've got all the makings of a unified group and the qualities of a good team," said Head Coach Todd Lickliter.

"Obviously we can set a great example for them doing the right things just it's all about on the court stuff. It's also about off the court, going to class studying for tests, doing things like that in advance before trips. When they see that we're focused on Coach Lickliter eye contact, we're not moving around, we're locked in, we're focused during practice I think that sets a really good example," said Kuhlman.

The Aces would love nothing more than to put last year's 9-23 mark in their rearview, and with coach Todd Lickliter getting set for his first full season, the team believes they have the pieces to have a successful year.

"Just having everything in place right now with Coach Lickliter at the helm and now we've got a great bunch of assistant coaches along with him. It's just a little bit more structure going into everything and Coach is doing a great job teaching everybody trying to get everybody on that same page going into a game. So, we're just going to play as a unit," said Kuhlman.

Temperatures were a heck of a lot more bearable earlier this afternoon - despite our northwesterly winds, temperatures peaked at 54° in Evansville earlier on and are expected to remain quite comfortable as we head into the evening hours. Expect temperatures ranging from 48° to 41° between 7 PM and 10 PM; though the added cloud cover over the coming hours will only allow temperatures to fall as low as 38° by early Wednesday morning. It's not all good news however, it looks as though some of us (especially those north of the Ohio River) could see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Wednesday morning.
