The Indianapolis 500 will now run with 25% of fan capacity.

This comes as Covid-19 numbers surge throughout Indiana and across the country.

Officials with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway had previously expected to run the already delayed race August 23rd at 50% capacity.

Officials with IMS say, they have an aggressive plan in place, offering credits to fans who previously purchased tickets, encouraging those most at risk of contracting the virus, to stay at home.

This year's race is expected to include numerous safety precautions, including the reassignment of seats to maximize social distancing, requiring masks for all fanns and routine temperture checks.

IMS added, they will fulfill all ticket requests with tickets distributed beginning the first week of August.
