One Killed In Early Morning Evansville Accident

Accident took place near the area of Lynch Road and Maxx Road.

One driver is dead and another has been taking to the hospital following an early morning accident in Evansville.

According to Evansville Police, the two-vehicle accident took place near the area of Lynch Rd and Maxx Rd around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday morning.

One of the motorists involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as 60-year-old Abelardo Hernandez of Evansville, Indiana.

The driver of the other vehicle that was involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital. The extent of that driver's injuries wasn't disclosed by police.

Evansville Police said that preliminary investigation suggests that dogs in the car with the driver who was taken to the hospital may have distracted the driver, contributing to the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Evansville Police Department.
