Evansville authorities are investigating after being called to a vacant house fire Friday night.
Fire officials say they were called to the 1000 Block of North First Avenue around 9 p.m. for a possible house fire. Officials say when they arrived, a couch was on fire in the living room located on the first floor.
We're told fire extended through the ceiling and involved items laying on the floor above.
EFD says the fire was quickly knocked down, but extensive overhaul to search for hidden fire was necessary. The fire was extinguished in about ten minutes.
Officials say no injuries were reported.
Officials say neighbors have stated there have been a lot of homeless activity at the property and this is the third fire at the address this month.
Evansville Police were requested to file a general report and the cause is currently under investigation.
Officials say a general report is a gathering of information available at the time. We're told if more information is presented in the future to consider this fire to be arson, it could be upgraded at the time.
