A man's body was pulled from a pond near an Evansville apartment complex on Wednesday.

Evansville Police responded to the pond around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving a call about a body being found.

The body was found in the body of water near the Brickyard Apartments & Condominiums on North Woods Avenue, which is on Evansville's west side off of Upper Mt. Vernon Road.

Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear later identified the man as 50-year-old Brian K. Ricketts of Evansville.

After an autopsy was conducted, Lockyear said Ricketts had died from drowning, but that his manner of death was still under investigation.

The Evansville Police Department and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Police are continuing to investigate the death.
