Arctic Blast Settles in Tuesday; Snow Chances Return Tomorrow

As the snowfall has come to an end we're dealing with some of the coldest temperatures we've seen in quite sometime. Expect cold and breezy conditions this afternoon with highs reaching the mid to upper teens.

We are getting a small break from the winter weather, but that won't bring an end to our bitterly cold temperatures. Evansville's temperatures dipped to 3° this morning, but the strong winds drove the wind chill values down to -15° in spots this morning! Today, was actually the coldest day we've seen in two years in Evansville.

We're expected to stay mostly dry this afternoon with partly sunny skies. Highs aren't expected to reach the 20° mark for many of us; we'll only hit 16° in Evansville this afternoon - that's nearly 30° below the norm for this time of the year! That being said, one might want to make the most of our Tuesday regardless of the temperature - we're already tracking another round of snow headed for the Tri-State Wednesday.

Current model data indicates that scattered snowfall will reach the Tri-State Wednesday morning and continue on and off through Thursday afternoon - it remains a little bit too early for a detailed snowfall projection, but preliminary data suggests that our Wednesday/Thursday event could be anywhere from 0.5"- 3". Our heaviest snowfall is expected to fall in our most southern communities as this system is once again coming from the southwest.

Nonetheless, a second bout of snowfall in three days warrants a watchful eye - Storm Team 44 will continue to keep you updated and aware of any changes to the forecast.

Temperatures were a heck of a lot more bearable earlier this afternoon - despite our northwesterly winds, temperatures peaked at 54° in Evansville earlier on and are expected to remain quite comfortable as we head into the evening hours. Expect temperatures ranging from 48° to 41° between 7 PM and 10 PM; though the added cloud cover over the coming hours will only allow temperatures to fall as low as 38° by early Wednesday morning. It's not all good news however, it looks as though some of us (especially those north of the Ohio River) could see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Wednesday morning.
